GU CONTENTS

UNIT TOPICS

Note to instructors: GU is a series designed for adults with limited educational experience. That means that many have dropped out of our public systems and have not developed independent learning skills. When you have students begin the GU series, be sure to walk them through one whole unit before asking them to complete further units.

Each Unit presents the same sequence, which includes the following sections:

SKILLS TUTORIALS/LESSONS

The following Writing, Math, and Reading tutorials or lessons are available to the public through funding by the department of Labor to the Unlimited Learning Center, in Cortez, Colorado. They allow added practice in all of the topics covered in the series.

Content: Leecy Wise
Technology: Will Jones

The tutorials presently accessible online were created to fit very small, handheld devices. Therefore, you’ll find that there is very little content on each Web page, which is a “plus” for pre-GED students with limited reading development.

To make the content online easier to read, simply resize the page by dragging its lower corner to fit the width desired. Students may need help on how to do that.

The pages are sequential in each topic. Students simply click “Next” to go through the tutorials. All topics provide rules for the skill covered, followed by workplace applications for the skill, and concluding with a quiz or test that follows the patterns used in the official GED exam.
